Prime Minister Prayuth praised Huawei’s technological strengths and the contributions it has made to the development of Thailand’s communications industry. "Thailand is building a digital economy," Prime Minister Prayuth said. "We'd like to invite Huawei to participate in this initiative as a major investor and ICT vendor. We believe that Huawei can act as an advisor as we build a digital economy and assist us with talent cultivation and knowledge transfer, and thus jointly transform Thailand into an ICT hub in Southeast Asia."

Huawei Deputy Chairman and Rotating CEO Ken Hu thanked Prime Minister Prayuth for recognizing Huawei's contributions to Thailand's development. "The Prime Minister shows tremendous foresight in the proposal to develop Thailand into a digital economy," he said. "Huawei is ready and eager to respond to the Prime Minister's call, and will continue to help the Thai government implement its reform towards a digital economy and cultivate more ICT professionals for local communities."

Huawei has operated in Thailand for 15 years and has cooperated extensively with local mainstream telecom operators, governments, and industry customers, thus emerging as a strategic partner of Thailand in developing a digital economy. Huawei is also committed to contributing to local socioeconomic development. Over the years, the company has trained more than 10,000 technical professionals and indirectly created nearly 5,000 local jobs.

During the meeting, Huawei provided Thailand with a desktop cloud system that can accommodate 500 users. Huawei also plans to cultivate 100 ICT experts in Thailand over the next five years to help this country develop its digital economy.
